Les espaces de la sexualité vénale dans le sud de la France à la fin du Moyen Âge
Abstract
The study of prostitution at the end of the Middle Ages (14th-16th century) allows us an insight into the places and spaces where prostitution take place, in the urban society. Such spaces are multi-layered, with their type and concentration differing in form, depending upon the nature of the prostitution (public or private). These spaces offer a strong level of sociability, and are primarily reserved for men. Indeed, a woman would be considered a prostitute, were she found in such areas.
